Теоретичні відомості

Наказові речення виражають спонукання до дії з метою виконання наказу, бажання, прохання, дозволу, поради того, хто говорить. У заперечній формі наказові речення можуть виражати заборону.Наказові речення мають дієслово-присудок у наказовому способі. Ці речення характеризуються відсутністю підмета. Накази вимовляються з спадною інтонацією.

Come here!

Don't be silly!

Let's go at once!

Додавання слова please (на початку або в кінці речення) або короткого речення will you або won't you в кінці речення пом'якшують наказ, перетворюючи його на прохання або запрошення.

Give me some water, please.

Please bring me a piece of chalk.

Help me with the luggage, will you?

Have a cup of tea, won't you?

Вживання підсилювальної форми наказового способу робить прохання більш наполегливим.

Do come, Ann!

Do be serious, George!

Речення з дієсловом у наказовому способі з підметом you мають додатковий відтінок значення (роздратування, нетерпіння).

You mind your own business!

Спонукання до дії може бути виражене не тільки наказовими реченнями, а й деякими типами питальних і розповідних речень, наприклад:

питальними реченнями (ввічливе прохання):

Would (Will) you pass me the salt, please?

Won't you stay a little longer?

Will you please shut the door?

розповідними реченнями:

You mustn't be late for school.

(Don't be late for school.)

You can't do that. (Don't do that.)

You should be more attentive.

окличними реченнями:

Enough of this!

Наголос — це підсилення голосу при вимові якогось із складів у слові (словесний або складовий наголос) або окремих слів у реченні (фразовий наголос).

Слово, вимовлене ізольовано, завжди має наголос. Наголошений склад у слові виділяється більш сильною та напруженою артикуляцією, його чути виразніше ніж ненаголошений. Артикуляційно-слухове виділення одного із складів у слові називається словесним (складовим) наголосом. У транскрипції наголос позначається значком [´], причому в англійській мові він позначається перед наголошеним складом, на відміну від української мови, де наголос позначається над голосною в наголошеному складі.

Слоговиділення:

якщо за наголошеним голосним стоїть приголосний (окрім «г»), то він відноситься до останнього складу — ´stu-dent;

складоутворюючи приголосні «m», «n», «1» утворюють склад, який завжди є ненаголошеним — ´ta-ble;

якщо за ненаголошеним складом стоять дві та більше приголосних (окрім «1», «r», «w», «j»), то перший приголосний відноситься до першого складу, а другий — до другого складу — din-ner.

Словесний наголос припадає:

на перший склад у двоскладових словах, якщо нема префікса та у складених словах, крім числівників від 13 до 19 — ´dinner, ´office; ´bookshop, ´schoolboy;

на другий склад у двоскладових словах, якщо є префікс — be´gin, re´turn;

на третій склад від кінця у трьохскладових словах та більше, причому суфікс (окрім «-ion») та закінчення до уваги не беруться. Голосна в цьому складі читається коротко (по другому типу читання), окрім літери «u» — funeral [fju:nsrsl].

якщо двоскладове або трьохскладове слово закінчується на ненаголошений склад, який містить звук [і], то голосна попереднього складу читається по другому типу читання (коротко) — polish, limit, ´visit, ´city, factory, ´family.

Деякі слова, окрім головного наголосу, який у транскрипції позначається зверху [´], мають другорядний, який позначається знизу [,].

Наявність двох наголосів полегшує вимову багатоскладових слів — individual [.indi´vidjsl].

В словах, які складаються з двох або трьох складів, часто буває два рівнозначних наголоси. Це: складені прикметники та складені числівники від 13 до 19 — ´left-handed, ´hard-´working, ´thir´teen, ´six´teen.

Коли слово утворилось із префіксу та слова, що має самостійне значення, наголос падає і на префікс і на слово, тобто воно має два наголоси — ´un´known, ´disappear (виняток: un´usual, impossible).

Але, якщо є суфікс «-ion», то наголос пересувається на попередній перед суфіксом склад, попередній наголос стає другорядним, тобто головний наголос відділяється від другорядного одним ненаголошеним складом: ´demonstrate — demons´traton.

Заміна наголосу веде до зміни значення слова:

´record — запис (іменник)

ІІ-й склад:

re´cord — записувати (дієслово)

Як словесний так і фразовий наголоси мають свої особливості у кожній мові. Однакові частини мови бувають в однієї мові наголошені, а в іншій — ні.
