Western australia

Western Australia is the largest state with area 975,920 sq. miles and population over 1,6 million. It is called "Cinderella State" or the "New California". The capital of Western Australia is Perth. It is largely an arid plateau with desert areas in the interior. Population is concentrated in the southwest. Temperature in January is +27-32°C and +16°C in July.

In 1616, Dutch explorer Dirk Hartog became the first European to sight Western Australian's coast. In 1826 there was a military settlement.

Western Australia is an agricultural region of cattle and sheep ranching, cereals, fruit and dairying. The state has rich mineral resources of gold, some coal, and asbestos, iron ore and other minerals as well timber. Gold was found in Kalgoorlie in 1893. Kalgoorlie still exports some gold. The new gold of Western Australia is wheat, Australia's biggest export. The main industries of Western Australia are agriculture processing and forestry. The state owns 5,874 km of railroad.
